Radio Legend quotes the home affairs minister, Josefa Vosanibola, as saying the work is being done to close the loopholes which have led to long-standing abuses by some officers of the department.

Mr Vosanibola has defended the appointment of the chief executive of the home affairs ministry, Dr Lesi Korovavala, as the acting director of immigration.

Mr Low has accused immigration officials of demanding cash and sex for issuing work permits, residency papers and Fiji passports to illegal Chinese immigrants.
